Silliness and subtle Pharisaism still dog our attempts to understand and convey the wonderful, mystical ordinariness of God's desire to be a father to his people. How a boringly orthodox Christian like me ended up using humour as a counter to these negative influences is beyond my understanding, but my journey through the last two decades has certainly been a rewarding and fascinating one.'
